FAQ: Are there privacy concerns when I link my Facebook or LinkedIn Accounts?

The short answer is no. Here's why. When you register on CGarchitect you have two options. You can register using the Facebook or LinkedIn buttons or you can enter the registration information manually.  

If you use Facebook or LinkedIn to register, the only information we can obtain is your email address, your name and your profile photo (if you have one).  If you register manually, you will be required to provide your full name and email address.

If you opt to register manually, or if you already had an account on CGarchitect, we will require you to validate your account with either Facebook or LinkedIn as a security measure to help prevent fake and spam accounts.   In this secondary phase of validation, we can not obtain any information from your social media accounts.  We are simply provided a secret access token that allows us to make a request on your behalf to verify your identity.  This token is the only thing we obtain and are allowed to store.

So, long story short, we do not get unfettered access to your social media accounts or any information that you are not made aware of. The information we can obtain is information you'd have to provide to register anyway.
